We had a Special Treats screening in Portland on Saturday and Shantel set up a typewriter for guests to contribute lines to a "monster poem", in connection with our poetic monster movie, You Poor Thing. Below, the paper we found in the morning. Its hard to read even when you're holding the paper.

Rose Hobart (1936) -- Joseph Cornell
Seeing Rose Hobart's name on the poster made me want to revisit this gem. The famous story goes that Salvador Dali broke Joseph Cornell's projector after seeing this film, out of jealousy that Cornell had made it.

I once read that they did this transformation by removing red filters from the lens, gradually making his skin more monstrous. So simple and brilliant.
