The Muppet Musicians of Bremen
This 1972 program of the Brothers Grim story really disoriented me as a kid, and revisiting it I can see why. The people's faces are eerily realistic and its creepy the way they jump around, appropriate for a story where you identify more with the animals. It left a strong impression on me, and I remember going through a phase where I really wanted to track it down. That was before youtube, and now that I'm reading Brian Jay Jones excellent new biography of Jim Henson I looked it up. Tadow! It's here. Funny how it's from way before I would've seen it. I thought it was going to be from the 80's.

Floating Face 10
Last night I saw a program of Jim Henson advertisements and short films, Commercials & Experiments, that was projected on film and looked really great, especially Time Piece. It was at SIFF's new cinema, the reopened Uptown, and screens again tonight at 9:15.

Jim Henson
that fraggle rock episode i saw at steve's place, it made me wonder how much of my childhood entertainment was made by mind-altered beatnik hippies. this short from '65 is an art film made by Henson between commercial projects and muppet stuff. are the children today being told to listen to stalactites ? that's what happened in the fraggle rock show
